Make sure when cleaning the head where the manifold attaches, you put something in each port and in the lifter valley. Look at the amount of oil in the manifold.this motor probably has close to 100k miles on it, so no big surprise.ġ5) Mark the rotor position (I used a crayon on the firewall)ġ6) Remove distributor clamp and distributorġ7) Remove the thermostat housing and thermostatġ8) Remove oil pressure sending unit (I think its only in the way on the f-bodies.) to access the rear most intake boltġ9) Remove the intake manifold (12 bolts)Ģ0) Remove the throttle bodies from the top plate (2 bolts each)Ģ1) Clean, Clean, Clean - the bottom of the thottle bodies, the heads,the thermostat housing, etc. #CROSSFIRE HACK INJECTOR TV#Removed the heat shield to make sure there was no trapped particles.oops.ģ) Move alternator out of the way, and remove bracket that attaches to manifoldĤ) Remove A/C support brace that attaches to manifoldħ) Disconnect vacuum hoses from intake and throttle bodies (labeling them is a good idea!)Ĩ) Disconnect all wiring for EGR, IACs, Injectors, O2 sensor, ground (on an intake stud),ĬTS (look at the wires - these tend to bend and lose their insulation), etcĩ) Disconnect throttle & TV (transmission downshift) cables (and cruise control cable if equipped) Little ports.BIG PORTS.We matched to a felpro gasket.Īfter sandblasting.of course, after I installed it, someone said I should have Slight runner inlet modifications :) We used a die grinder and bits made for aluminum (they don't get caked up with the metal).
